Meizu has released several great devices but the support for their custom ROMs and Mods is quite low as these devices are not available globally. But that does not mean that there is no-one out there making anything for the device. This article will concentrate on the custom ROM named SmartySenseRom which is based on the stock Flyme 126.96.36.199A that means the ROM contains all the stock features along with some added mods to help you out.
As, you move along with your reading, you will find several links which are there to help you either with the information or with the download itself. But those are just basic information and as we know that rooting and flashing ROMs has its downside which if you are unaware of, then you my friend need to put some breaks and research a little before you move ahead.
Here are few links which you will find helpful (it also includes other ROMs for Meizu M2):
- Flyme OS 5.0.1
- Cyanogenmod 12.1 on Meizu M2
- Installation Guide: TWRP recovery Meizu M2
- Custom ROM for Meizu M2: Stoke by Elephone P8000 firmware
- Custom ROM for Meizu M2: Custom firmware P8000
The ROM here is for Meizu M2 and not for the M2 Note.
Note: Install or Flash this ROM own your own risk as failure in flashing the zip correctly can damage your device i.e. brick it. Also as you move forward with this, know that flashing custom ROM voids the company given warranty.
- Meizu M2 (obivous)
- Flyme 188.8.131.52A
- Custom ROM (Download from here)
- Root Access
- Ensure your device is rooted (Meizu M2)
- Download the firmware and extract
- Copy the ‘system.img’ file onto your root
- Open the terminal and type
dd if = / sdcard / system.img of = / dev / block / platform / mtk-msdc.0 / by-name / system
- Reboot into recovery (power + volume up key)
- Wipe dalvik and cache
The process may take more than 10-15 mins so be patient and let the process work even if you see nothing happening at all. Just wait for the process to complete and the device to set itself.
Note: The credit for the ROM goes to the smartylife.net as they are the one who created this but as it is in Italian, most people find it hard to understand so I have created an English guide to simplify the process.
