Next Windows 10 Tech Preview to support more devices

All the devices that were not able to get the first Technical Preview of Windows 10 now will get the next preview. The news comes directly from the Windows blog. The reason being told is that phones that had sufficient system partition sizes configured by the manufacturer were among the set of devices on which the first build could work.

Now more devices can handle the new build because of the new feature they are working on i.e “partition stitching” that would allow the re-size of the system partition dynamically which in turn will allow the upgrade on a larger set of phones.

And not all this, they also have provided a preliminary list of the devices which may get the Windows 10 Tech Preview.

Devices are :

  • Lumia 1020
  • Lumia 1320
  • Lumia 1520
  • Lumia 520

This is surely a big list and will also make many Lumia device holders happy. But be sure that it is a preliminary list that means any of these device may likely wont get the update. Reasons for that according to Microsoft is :

  • If, during our testing, we find a device specific bug it MAY be pulled from the list.
  • If a phone isn’t listed here it is likely because we have found such a bug, but it MAY get fixed before the next flight.

With all this information the blog does give the idea when to expect the next build i.e it will take at least a week more of testing before we can expect anything else.
